Every putt is unique. Every putt deserves attention, even the little 10 footers. I know this to be true, because I have doinked my fair share of short putts in tournaments.
This is how I approach every putt. At least that's what I try to approach every putt. When I don't this, I increase my chances of missing.
What I do is that I set up myself to putt for every putt. I don't short change my routine ever. I laser eyes the target I'm intending to hit. That's the pipe just below the middle between the basket and the top of the chains. By the time I putt, I'm 100 percent ready to putt and know exactly where the putter is going to go.
I then shut off my brain and I fire off the putter. There's no hesitation. There are no second guesses. I just throw my putter.
If I throw it correctly, it will go in every time.
I attribute this approach to professional disc golf player Matt Bell. Take some time and watch some tournaments with Bell on the lead card. I've seen him do his full routine with a putt inches from the basket.
I'll admit that I'm not as hard core as Bell, but I try to be that hardcore. Losing a tournament because of a couple of dorked putts is not fun.
